When I was in kindergarten, I was completely happy just playing alone which concerned my parents. The first time I felt I was different from “normal people”.

When I moved to the UK I became a chubby girl (loved the roast chicken and potatoes with gravy at school lunch too much), which led my teacher to point out that I was getting fat, and I have had body image issues from a very young age. That also made me feel I was not “normal”. So when I came back to Japan at high school the feeling expanded with everyone being skinny, let alone the culture change and everything else that came with it, I always thought that I was never enough. It led me to channel my energy into every thing I can do to fit in, a high achiever as a student, a successful career in entertainment… masking my insecurites. At 40 I reached my max weight of 75kg facing health issues and burnout and that was when I finally realized, I need to take control of me. The change came when I decided to invest in a personal trainer who made me realize that your body can change, so can your mind, and visa versa.

All you need is guidance and practice and the courage to ask for help.

Now I am on a mission to light up the confidence in high achieving women who are struggling as I had to glow inside and out.
